Forces: Affiliation Hurdles

In the very early hours this morning, I put the final touches on the two affiliation templates I have been working on - Dark Side and Light Side.  I will share the process of these two templates in a more comprehensive series of posts in the future.  These templates were the largest hurdles for me to overcome as much of them depended on original artwork and creativity.

While simultaneously updating existing Second Edition templates (Missions, Non-Aligned nouns, and verbs) for my own use, I have several other items on my agenda:

  • Original icons (sub-affiliation types) and reduced sized versions (including existing icons)
  • Completion of an original quadrant icon
  • Appropriate font use and type placement (prototype prints necessary)
  • Modified goals for set design and releases (no longer based on 6 brand-new affiliation prototype design)
  • Finalize Keyword list (both existing and original concepts)
  • Resolve Anakin vs. Vader persona issue
  • Redevelopment of Set 1 (originally 126 cards based on a prototype design)
  • Screen captures for Set 1 cards
Much of prototype Set 1's content is salvageable for reuse with limited modifications.  Considerable time has already been spent on nearly 140 cards this summer, so I am relieved that my shift in design goals did not waste too much time already spent creating those cards.  Thankfully, I was not so far into the prototype's design process that it became too rigid.  Although the artwork has been the most time consuming aspect this project, the most challenging aspect will be the gameplay design of individual cards themselves...
